while wandering around the intertron last night i ran into this little article on gizmodo. It describes how to turn one of those little $300 dell netbooks into a mac netbook. I know this is supernerd stuff but it seems kinda fun and I thought might be useful for some of you in dport7 land. check out their post, you can do it in like 10 easy steps. I wish i would have seen this before we went to Italy it would have been great to look at our photos as we went to see how things were turning out.

faithful you'll have to forgive me for my absence. i have been both lazy and sick. on wednesday evening i got hit with the flu so hard i just got out of bed today! (four days later)... thursday and friday found me calling in sick and sleeping probably a total of 20 hours each day. saturday wasn't much better although i stay awake long enough to watch a few movies. sunday was still kind of a wash, i tried to do some wedding stuff but still found it hard to sit up for more than an hour.
I had some fun ideas for this weeks post but sadly this bit of text is the best I can do. even sadder there is a new me a paul show recorded and ready to post but I just haven't gotten to it. Now I know you probably concerned and let me reassure you....... both Kate and ButtFuzz were smart enough to get their flu shots so they haven't been infected with this god awful bug.
Your other main concern seems to be if buttFUZZ is shitting in the toilet yet. Well, you'll be pleased to hear that she's doing pretty well. She's at the end of her training and as far as the poo goes she's about 60% in 40% out or on the lid. Pee 100% in every time. it seems like with a bit more practice she'll have this thing figured out!!!!! look for a show soon.... well if i survive.

I know it's been a while and let me be the first to say "I'm sorry". It must be hard making it day to day without me and paul. we took a few weeks off to reorganize and for jon to move to DC. it's seems that with this time off the show really found it's roots. the most recent show released saturday has been widly halied as our best show ever. don't take it from me. listen to what one of our many listeners had to say.

Listened to the lastest episode of "Me & Paul" this weekend, and yeah, good job guys. I LOLed a number of times. People we're looking at me strangely from my laughter and I was in public. Thanks

Brian Lauvray

Whether you've loved and left or never listened to the show do yourself a favor and subcribe or resubscribe to what is being hailed as the best podcast ever or atleast the best podcast ever called me and paul.

so, there's a lot of media to post tonight. i have a before and after picture of the newly restores chairs taken only four years apart. we also have a buttFUZZ update. sadly today she got spay and well that's gotta hurt. i took her to the vet at 7:20 this morning to start the process and the vet said that if she had the operation this morning we could pick her up later tonight. Turns out they called Kate and she picked her up after work. Well, it turns out after they take out a female cats "parts" they have to put a cone on the little lady so she doesn't...... well...... pick at it i guess. because it was the funniest and saddest thing little buttFUZZ has had to endure I thought I'd document it and share it with you the dport7 faithful. Kate chose the music and she really nailed this one.

update time!!!! So over the past week the chair saga has continued....In the last post I was taking off the old shock absorbers at the apt. I then took the shells to work where there is a small workshop to do the sanding and the gluing for the new shock attachment. As always doing anything in the city with no car and public trans is a challenge. Lucky for me Monday was a holiday so the trains were mostly empty. I was able to carry all three chair shells in with me on my way to work (my office doesn't observe MLK day). As planed I went in to work early and stayed late all week to complete all the sanding and gluing and now today Friday I'm able to take them home. I posted a few shots of the process for you. Why? Because I know you care deeply.
Hey Paul, how's the ShittyKitty thing working out? I'm glad you asked. buttFUZZ is seeming to adjust to it pretty smoothly. We removed the first ring and she didn't freak out and still jumps up on the toilet to use it. I don't have any pictures but I did walk in on her one time and saw she was sitting with all four paws on the seat while she was taking care of her business. So that's a good sign.
Stay tuned I'll post some pics of the finished chairs this weekend. I'm sure your dieing see the finished project.

In the spirit of documentation I'd like to tell you about a little project I'm working on. As many of you might remember from my first post ever (scroll to bottom) I "found" 3 Eames school shell chairs in my short stint in Cincinnati at the hospital's smoking hut. Because they were owned by a institution they have what's called the school legs on them and over the years those legs have rusted and fallen apart. For years now I've vowed to buy new legs and repair these chairs. After asking around I found a place online in California called modernica that sells the new more stylish legs I was after. As it turns out the Eiffel legs don't have the same hole pattern that the school legs do. After some sadness i found a website that shows how to remove the old hole pattern and set up a new one, by replacing the shock absorbers. The next challenge was finding the shock absobers. Leave it to ebay to have what you need. I just recived the parts yesterday and with any luck in the next week or so I'll have the rest of the process to show you. the picture below is the chair disasembled with two of the shock absorbers pried off.

Ok so fist off i wanted to share the first picture of the spring. think sound of music after the helicopter flew over julie andrews and the down draft threw her to the ground. now replace her with me. There you go. SPRING! I would like this post to be about how the weekend was, and we saw the new rolling stones documentary (
shine the Light), but I'm afraid i have a bone to pick with the USPS.
So for some reason my taxes are really kinda complicated (long story) anyway my brother John Diehl found this killer good Tax agent in cincinnati (of all places) and suggested it may be a good idea if i sent my stuff to him and had her do it. I said "cool" put all my papers in an envelope and went to the Radio City Post Office in Manhattan to send it off. Overnighted to cincinnati. The next day i check the tracking number and it was delivered! John calls and is asking where it is. This is where the panic set in. So I call the post office and say "hey guys you lost my envelope". They check the tracking and say " well sir our records show we delivered the parcel..... so you my friend are SOL". This to me is amazing. I'm imagining my envelop ( with all my important tax info) is now sitting in a room somewhere with Amelia Earhart, the Lindberg baby, and Nazi gold. I already hate tax time enough and now I have to file for a extension to prolong this 6 more months. Along with begging people to reprint my W4 and other crap. Who do I blame in all this? (yes I have to blame someone I'm an American its part of our culture) I blame both the USPS for being so incompatant as to be unable to properly put an envelope in a mail box. I also blame myself for being greedy and trying to get more on my return than H&R.com would have provided. Moral of the story, don't go the extra mile especially on your taxes.

In other news my good old best friend brian lauvray has started blogging for the Tyra Banks show. He's helping the young ladies that watch Tyra and are unlucky in love find a man. He gives advice on what a young single guy in his late 20's is really like. Go to the site read a comment and maybe leave one of your own. Its your chance ladies to find out what makes a guy like brian tick.

oh man so what happened to this weekend, you ask? well it was presidents day so i'm guessing everyone went out dressed up as their favorite president from american history, and got crazy. I know i did. That's right i, dressed up as Martin Van Buren president of this great country from 1837-1841 known for being a "snappy dresser". you might be saying to yourself "paul, how the hell did you pull that off. Van Buren at best he was 5 feet 6 inches tall. You tower over that height you must have looked like an ass. Indeed I did. lessoned learned.

in other news i'm a proud owner of a new MAC. with some help from Rebecca and some kindly donors including myself and others. i finally after years of waiting bought my mac pro. It's great, it supplied the new rendering that's currently the banner here on the site. With it's ability to run windows it makes it possible for me to do all my 3D modeling and rendering in one spot. which is great. the first thing i did was to model myself a mount for my iSight camera. The current apple displays don't come with a built in webcam so i wanted to hook up the apple iSight i used with my laptop for some years. the thing is, they don't make the iSight anymore and finding a mount to attach it to my monitor posed a problem. finally my years of modeling came in hand in my home life. I quickly fired up solidworks, copied my old laptop mount and customized to fit my new display. i had to go into work to finish some stuff up on saturday night so i tossed the file in the printer and in three hours had my very own one of a kind mount. i know this may be a bit nerdy but i thought it was pretty cool. for the past couple of years all the models i've made went no further then rendering. it's great to make some thing i can actually use. i posted it so check it out.

hey everyone I'm sorry for skipping a week. things have been uber busy and i've been feeling beat. the last few weekend have been spent at work and I'm not as resilient as i used to be. a few years ago i never had days off but over the last 2 or three years i got used to weekends and now i'm kind of a wimp when i work through them. sadly because of all this i have very little to share. having this weekend off just resulted in cleaning my apartment and resting as much as possible. kate and i are hoping i have some of next weekend, because it presidents day weekend and we both need to get out of the city. the grey winter weather has left us both feeling dead inside and it would be nice to get out of this environment for even just a day. where are we going? being that we decided late we are thinking about taking the LIRR out to Montauk. come to think of it we were supposed to fly up to Vermont to see DR phil and DR leena but they have been MIA both from kate and i.

I'm sorry i was rambling. anyway to have some sort of reason for this post lets talk about a movie we snuck in one saturday night. there will be blood , nominated for an oscar stars daniel day lewis. set in the late 1800, it's about a man of that time discovering and buying up property with oil on it and mining. It has much more going on in the story than that but that's the over all plot. Lewis's character is one that at the core is damaged and lonely. Its like life beat him early on (something we do not see) and his only recourse is to spend the rest of his life trying to beat it back. this makes him hard and angry. his only sign of humanity is his adopted son that loses his hearing in a drilling accident. the movie goes on the show his great success in the oil industry, combined with is continued decent from personal life happiness. much of the movie is played out with just a soundtrack and little dialogue. the times which dialogue is used it is delivered with a thunder strike that is the tone of Lewis. in short the movie was really made for me by the last scene where Louise's character completely loses it. I give it 2.5 stars as it's a bit heavy for my little paul brain.

this just in Kate has started a band new blog!!!!!!!!! she discontinued her old one "my life" for a new more fashion based "K8 says" this one will not discuss kate's life but only talk about her feelings on fashion. i'm excited so check it early and often the first post went up today. hey kate!

well happy thanksgiving everyone!!!! I'm posting out here at LGA waiting for my Airtran flight back to my home state of ohio. I couldn't help getting sucked into the airport wiFi (which should be free by the way, shame on you LGA) to post one of the old dport7 thanksgiving holiday greetings. i know that most of you will be enjoying a meal today with family or friends or both or maybe with a whole foods meal on the go plate. no matter what your doing dport7 is here to send you a genuine semi_weird happy thanksgiving wish. (was that kinda gay?) either way for some reason even though i don't particularly enjoy the holidays i thought you may enjoy a post. so wherever your at have a beer for me and pour a bit out for dport7!!!!!!

so i know most of you are experiencing this and to honest it's really getting me down. this return to winter is not only uncalled for but just poor taste. today i'm braving the crap weather to join phill anderson for a yankees game. he got free tickets and i have a hard time saying know to anyone. why? because i'm easy. if you see old man winter tell him i'm mad as hell and he needs to get out of the way because it's spring time and i'm way too pasty white.

so after fighting for an entire week i finally feel a little better and may be beating this cold.
but dude check out the snow today.... with all this global warming talk i was sure that I'd never see snow again. although today my fears eased and the chile of true winter weather fell from the sky like post apocalyptic ash. it usually seems like the bulk of snow falls at night but today it just fell like ice razors all day. The bonus of this all was that i got half a snow day at work. an email went around from the president saying we were closing the doors a 3. this will probably be the last snow day i ever have so i enjoyed it. man i'm sorry this is a pointless blog posting. happy v day from the staff.

so if you haven't heard it's cold and flu season. and it got me on wednesday. i went down hard and didn't even get to stay home from work because i had so much due. hey that's the way of the world though. the thing that really upsets me though is that i'm sick here over the weekend. i like so many other cherish my weekends like gold handed to me by god with the explicit intent to try and have some fun. to pass the sick time i finally got around to watching Snakes on a Plane....... I've been thinking about watching this one for along time and never got around to it. was it good you ask? well if you go into to it knowing its a fluff pass of time movie then you'll like it.... i thought it would be a bit more 80's campy. it was but in a less intended way. what makes something 80's campy? 1. stupid 2. pointless nudity 3.bad music 4. hot chicks 5. Booger......... Snakes on a Plane only really had 1 and 2. In short download it on bit torrent save your money, but don't be too mature to enjoy it. oh yeah i put a clip of the best part of the movie in here for you to enjoy as much as i did..... oh wait more copyright infringement.

I've also relegated myself to watching vh1 classics 100 1 hit wonders again. check out the list and save yourself 5 hours.

copy write infringement is a load for hose puckie man..... I know a lot of you could care less about this stuff and to be honest i usually don't care either.... however last week viacom turned the screws on youtube and demanded they pull done 100,000 videos from the site clamming copy write infringement..... now i'm note really a huge fan of youtube either. most of it consists of highschool kids lip sinking and video's of scuba diving cats. but the one and only thing i loved about youtube was it was the only place left on the net to watch silf and olly.... the show that defined a generation... so on saturday i was feeling a little down and though "why not watch some sifl and olly to cheer me back up" I go to you tube do my search and find it's been "taken down because of copy write infringement".... this is bullshit man!!!!!!! I love that show and now viacom has to come along with their pack of lawyers to be mr killjoy for young america....... here's what i'm saying if they release sifl and olly on DVD i would buy it in a heart beat, but THEY HAVEN'T DONE THAT!!!!!! what has this world become? i'll tell you, a bunch of greedy toolbags unwilling to let people appreciate others work with out paying every sent they think they're owed.... I think the moral of the story here is if your ganna be greedy for the love of god at least give me the chance to pay for it!!!!
in honor of sifl and olly and copy write infringement here's a clip i ripped from youtube just last weekend.... it's one of my favorites and i'll miss all the fun we could have had together youtube (tears fall to the keyboard)

and now.... a pointless blog

first off if your a frequent reader i again feel as if i'm right on the edge.

also why is that at the grocery store they only sell pretzel sticks by the cubic ton! i have to carry this stuff home on the train you think we could offer a decent size bag. but no, not pretzel stick, it's like in a feed size bag.

it's occurred to me that working in a corporate office is sadly a lot like high school. I could list off a bunch of reasons why, but may favorite is the most despicable. Only the guys will know this one but it's amazing. so as you might know from your HS days the dirty guys in school tend to pick their nose and place it on the wall above the urinal.... to my astonishment on my floor at work (where the bathroom is shared with several other offices on the floor) the same practices are being used. i was a little surprised and the sight of it made me laugh.... then i just thought man that's sad.

so good news everyone I can finally visit all the international members of dport7.I got my passport. we are very popular in other countries we're the jerry lewis and david hasselhoff of the internet. i'm a god in moscow.

so it's time for an update.

#1 so as some of you may know i'm a hardened criminal and last friday Dec.1 i took the trip out to union turnpike in queens to pay from my open container violation. after arriving out in the outer bounds of queens in the early morning i made my way to borough hall to stand in what i thought would be a forever line. to my surprise there was no line and i walked right in. after security worked me over i went in to court only to find out that my case had been dismissed. the man at the computer checking my information told me that a letter was sent out to inform me that i didn't have to make the trip out there........ flash forward to monday of this week when i check my mail and receive the letter telling me the oh so valuable information....... i'll leave you to think your own commentary from here. oh i took a picture of borough hall for you

#2 i would like to take this opportunity to publicly apologize to HD. i took today and tomorrow off of work so i decided to see if i could straighten out this whole HD thing. so it turns out the guy that installed my cable box didn't give me the HD component cables. they're the green red and blue that replace that single yellow plug you have at regular tv. anyway ever since I turned on the HD channels with the right cables i have been mesmerized. the channel 4 news has crazy good HD and it is awesome... long story short i'm feeling like an idiot for not figuring this out sooner. i guess though i can blame the cable guy.

#3 good news i got a raise at work starts..... in january... so that's good.

#4 saw a good movie the other night calledBaxter .... it's from guys that did wet hot american summer.... to tell you what i really enjoyed it. it was a kate pick and she totally redeemed herself with this one

i feel as if i have had several revelations lately. ok so 1. HD is load of shit man. I have a "HD TV" and I got HD cable and first off there are only like 7 channels that are even in HD. Then i come to find out when i compare HD channels to non-HD channels that the difference is minimal at best. what's all hype about how much better HD looks than regular TV. is there something wrong with my eyes. maybe my eyes can only see standard def. anyway it just seem like rip off to me.

next number 2 revelation. i have noticed while listening to other people that i am indeed not worldly. so many other people my age have lived abroad or spent time over seas. now, yes it is true that i have been to europe some years ago, i was on a bus trip with my family and only received a very tourist bus type experience of another culture. i'm talking about trips as an older individual anyway. i feel as if i should be wasting my money on backpacking trips over seas instead of on lies in technology. (although i never will)

lastly number 3 revelation. my apartment cost too much........ i have this revelation all the time..... just thought i'd write it down for once.

I was walking to kate's house from the subway this afternoon and felt the familiar sorrow of fall late afternoon sunlight. The soft shadows that plague the street and the blinding orange sunlight that starts signaling the end of the day at 3pm. I guess i cant say it's depressing but it just seems to be a reminder that summer is really really over and that the winter with it's cruel tricks and angry wind is coming to get me. I can't explain why but late fall afternoons have always mad me feel kinda sad like this. I guess it's the colors or maybe it's just the fact that i have to work tomorrow (sunday) and I'm taking out my frustration on fall. man....... I'm sorry fall.

is anyone else sick of blogger being down all the time? It's really starting to piss me off.... anyway sorry for that. well this weekend has really turned into how i returned my cable box. other that that it's been kinda slow almost disappointing, although for the disappointment i only have myself to blame. friday night was kinda slow sam kate and i went to see marie antoinette it was slow and void of any real focus. it seemed if sofia coppola couldn't decided what kinda story she wanted to tell. was it going to be an modern adaptation of marie antoinette's life or a semi historical bio film. of course it was a beautiful movie because how do you make versailles un-spectacular.

saturday was pretty much blown trying to return my cable box to cablevision. when i canceled my cable service the dumb shit on the phone gave me a bogus address for the location of the cablevision drop off here in brooklyn. I googlemapped the address and decided because i haven't had much chance to ride my bike as of late that i should ride there. not realizing how far it was i put the items for return in my backpack and headed deep into brooklyn. when i get around the nonexistent address i started asking people in the area for 10-20 flatlands ave and was informed that there is no such address. at that point i was sure i was screwed. by the grace of God a cablevision van drove by and i chased him down to find out i had to backtrack a quarter of the way. after some more riding and getting lost i found it. then stood in line for 20min with people that only leave their homes and bags of chips because their remotes broke. people say the mid-west has a weight problem but so does the brooklyn when it comes the cable subscribers that break remotes (most likely by sitting on them). luckly they accepted my cable box for return, no problem. exhausted i took the subway home and collapsed at 4K. when i woke i went to see a good friend of the site steve for a drink at union hall.

rollover image to see map. notice the green patch (prospect park) it's huge..... for scale.

so i'm ganna keep the post about this weekend short. Main thing is that friday i got my gas turned on and i tried you pay off my ticket for my open container violation that resulted in a summons ticket. long story short on the ticket, i rode all the way out to the end of queens on the subway and to my dismay fat ass mcPork cop told me that because my ticket says dec. 1 on it the best i can hope for is to pay it a week before that. Although the cop that gave me the ticket (who apparently is an international dumbshit) told me i could pay it at any point and that infact it is best to pay it sooner than later. WOW..... i hate this.

Saturday night was a surprise party for a friend of the site brian pike. he has decided to leave our fair city for the bright lights of nashville. he never struck me as a country singer but hey you put a hat and boots on anyone and they could be the next country superstar. We went to union pool where rebecca had everyone meet to wish brian a surprise goodbye. Although a bit under the weather it was great to see all the apple folks again. ofcourse best of luck to brian. check out the slide for all the shots i could get.

sleep for me

today i was sitting at work and decided to listen to pandora for a while and the first song that came on was from cake. i've had cake songs in the library for along time and every time i re-discover them i'm pleasantly surprised and for some reason refreshed by their wit and song style. then i started to think maybe i should use cake as a guideline for my life. meaning that before i commit to being friends with someone i would inconspicuously play one of cake's may charming songs and wait for their reaction. for a flashing moment this seemed like the key to life. then moments later the haze of the morning burned off and i realized yet again that I'm an idiot. man i know i've written bad blog entries in the past and this one isn't the worst but it's up there. anyway here's the song. oh yeah the song is called Italian Leather Sofa and it's off the Fashion Nugget album, which i believe was their first major album. oh as for copyright infringement sorry I'm just promoting the band without their written consent.... tough!
