so i know this sounds crazy but it's true I've started a second podcast, well or at least I'm trying it out. you may ask yourself "paul, how do you have time to do this?" well i don't but by the power of multitasking i'm finishing up wedding stuff and doing a second podcast at the same time. SO! what's it about.... well it's a show about MADMEN. My brother doctor john only watches sports until Madmen came along and now he can't get enough. He's been calling me after the show to talk about it and i mentioned one day that we should do a podcast for it. john was excited for the opportunity so last night we did our first show. We know we are a bit late to the party this being season 3 and all but we don't care. So pour yourself an old fashion or bloody marry or manhattan or hell straight scotch. light a cigarette lean back and enjoy. sorry for john's mic for right now he's using his laptop mic so he's in a bit of a cave but we'll fix that.

Oh btw, i haven't posted a subscribe button for this yet because the show is still under approval by itunes. as soon as i get the approval I'll make better cover art and add the show to the podcast page of the site.

Alright here's a quick post about a lot of stuff. First all points west..... we i wouldn't call it a disaster but it wasn't far off. don't get me wrong no one got hurt, but the rain and the lack of the beastie boys was oppressive. we ended up seeing a shit ton of hipsters, along with the bands The Fleet Foxes, he National, and Vampire Weekend... Let me say this the Fleet Foxes were far to hippy for me. Guys, get a shave and and some shoes. The National was amazing with rock and roll badassness that could be felt for miles.. Vampire Weekend played well but those guys are just too young and awkward to be on a stage.. As you heard MCA from the beastie boys has cancer and so they had to cancel their show... This was a heart breaker for me and many others, but going to an event like that is always fun....Check out the pictures below of the poncho madness big thanks to Megan for picking those up!.

Second my good old friend Rusty from high school was in town. We joined him his lovely wife and brother at the Brooklyn brewery on Saturday for what i would call a less than satisfying tour of the place.. it's just a room off the main hall where they make there special brews... well ok...... Kate and i had a great time hanging out. So thanks Rusty and welcome to dport7!!

Lastly and this may be my favorite. Kate and I have this floor standing air conditioner in the bedroom. The LCD screen is such a bright blue that at night you think your sleeping next to one of the Tron motorcycles (see last post)..so one night in complete desperation and half sleepiness kate grabbed one of the lint rollers we have took a piece and found a heart sock. then used that as the classy way to fix the problem... and it works!!!! As a industrial and fashion designer you think we might be able to come up with something better.... sadly no... Although I am only here and awake for maybe 2 hours a day so I'll make that my excuse....

What a weekend folks. I don't want to say it was the best weekend of the summer but i cant help it, it was the best weekend of the summer. Miss Erin Hanley needs a shout out for setting up the best tubing trip, maybe ever. But first we need to talk about friday night, the night O Neil. Thats right we went to see America's greatest song writer and our hero Neil Diamond at the garden. I don't really know how to explain it, Neil is a force of nature. he played a lot of his hits and generally made me laugh the entire show. Kate loved it and I think if the chance arose again we'd go. check out the clip below i feel as if it was a bit like our experience. Michele, Erin, and Allie joined us for the concert and well lets just say michele is a uber fan.

now as i started to say before saturday was the best!!!!! Erin put together a trip up state to cedar rapids where we got tubes and floated the day away down the delaware river. there were about 13 of us and a huge camping size beer cooler. yes the beer cooler had it's own tube. I think the best part of the trip was the perfect storm of people. it was 13 people that 1. all loved beer, 2. really appreciated being out of the city and floating on a river. and 3. i really thought everyone was pretty funny which is always nice on a trip of any distance. All in all i think we floated for 4 hours and drank 100 beers. When we finally landed back at base camp we had dinner at the little restaurant there and got back on the bus to get to NYC at about 11. i was completely beat but it was worth it.

so let's talk about all points west. Friday night Kate and I met up with Tyson at port authority and made our way to jersey city NJ. Tyson and Josy were nice enough to have us over so it would be an easy start to the concert Saturday morning. So were the band s good? yes, yes the band were great. well except for radiohead. yeah i know radiohead is amazing but honestly people i just can't get into it. the lead singer just whines all over every song. anyway that's not what i really want to talk about. as we walked into the show area of the park first things first we headed for the beer tent to get our over 21 bracelets and the first beer of the day. On the bracelet were 5 small tear away tags. These tags were the amount of $7 beers you could buy over the course of the day. so lets be clear it's not so much that i could only have 5 beers that made me mad. it's the fact that i was told i could only have 5 beers that really set me off. by set off i mean a rage-less "that sucks" came flying out of my mouth. then we all kinda complained about it on and off for the rest off the day. talking about how this country has turned in to an over protective parent that doesn't really love you but hates when you have any fun. kinda like Communism but without all that marx crap. either way i thought we all still managed to have a pretty good time.
I've finally posted the SSP pictures I've promised so check them out. don't forget to check out the links to pictures that i posted a few weeks ago those were really pretty good to.

Oh faithful let me apologize i have been negligent to you who i love most. the thing is that life has exploded with busyness and responsibility. I still haven't had time to post pictures from SSP08 but with any luck I'll have a bit of time on sunday. at least thats the hope. In other news i wet to see The National on monday night. I don't know if your a fan but I have to admit they were really pretty good. the lead singer started out a bit rough but a few songs in he found his sound and really nailed the songs from then on out. What else you ask? well there was a lovely rabbit's foot in there some where. Kate's parents came for a visit, kate had a big birthday, that's 25 folks. (she got a new black iPhone). Ian went back to singapore. This weekend i head to All Point West. It's a big band fest in NJ. With me luck i don't think it's near camden so i should be ok.

thanks to laurea and david for the photo

so i hope everyone is enjoying the holiday banner. it was about as holiday as i could get. although look for more killer renderings of killroy soon. anyway speaking of the holidays i have a little gift for you. actually it's just something that i've kinda become obsessed with, that i want to share with you. a few weeks ago someone at work dropped a cd on my desk and asked me to copy it. the cd was a recording of the RPI show this american life. I did the favor and for some reason the disc was then left on my desk. a few weeks later searching for something to listen to this disc again caught my attention. listening to this show has totally consumed my interest. if you haven't heard the show it works like this. every week they pick a topic and then find mostly true stories of real life people to go along with the topic. for example the most recent episode is called ties that bind. In this episode they tell a story on a girl that got a heart transplant, two women with cystic fibrosis that become friends, and a waitress that finds friends in strangers. although the title may seem a bit generic and the explanations of the stories may also seem predictable the show is anything but. The people's stories are told with interviews that seem soooo real and honest its like your living their story right along with them. it seems that almost all of the people are nothing but amazing and the circumstances unfathomable. some of the episodes are funny while others seem almost to heavy to bear, but all captivating in a way i can't really describe. after being surrounded the last few weeks with a media that supplies the most worthless news about the single most worthless people (pregnancy of Jamie Lynn Spears... who gives a shit) it's more then refreshing to listen to an episode of this program. how can you get in on this you ask? well for one you can click my link here and go to the itunes and subscribe for the podcast. or you can go to the website and listen to all 300 episodes streaming online. either way i encourage you to give it a shot. there is also a tv show based on the radio program on showtime that can also be downloaded on itunes.

well i hope everyone had a good holiday. mine was restful. i slept more over this holiday break than i've slept in months. why? well i was at my grandmothers house in canton ohio and there's not a whole lot to do. i can't go out because i don't really know anyone in the surrounding area and everytime i have a drink around my parents they think i've "lost control" anyway that leaves plenty of time for naps. I'm not complaining though i needed it. in between the naps the family decided it would be a good idea to go see a movie. being that we all have different tastes in films my mom chose the feature, which was disney's enchanted. now those of you that know me, know that this isn't exactly on my list of movies to see. I kinda don't like "cute" so much and i also hate patrick dempsey for his awesome hair. needless to say this one was a bit more than i could take. if your into over blown love fairy tales dripping with perfect world sugar sweetness run right out and download this one on bit torrent.
in other news i took the bus back from LGA for a bit of adventure and a savings of like $40 which these days is huge. i don't suggest it if you don't have a good knowledge of the subway in the boroughs of queens and brooklyn, but if you do check it out and save some dough.
also in other news check out my friend elinor's blog foodzi!!! she's a restaurant goer with things to say. Check it out she's got pictures of her food (before it's eaten) and they always look good. she just started the blog so leaver her some comments to get her going. tony ritz you always have good comments lets see what you can do on a food blog.
lastly,(almost done) if you have time this weekend or just whenever go out and buy or rent the first season of Flight of the Conchords. this could be my new favorite show. it's about this two guys from new Zealand that have a band here in NYC and it id hilarious. this is one of those shows that same me from free falling into depression. with all the other crap that's on TV this is a saving grace. it may take you a couple of episodes to get into it so watch at least three before you make up your mind. here's a little clip of them doing a rap that cracks me up every time i watch it. click on the link to check out more clips.
ps... special note for those of you with iphones and the ipod touch. the tech team here at dport7 has finally gotten on the stick and made the video posts playable on your device so enjoy!!!!

ok i just don't get it. I have been trying to spread the good word of Corn Mo for about a year now. Last night kate ian and I went to see the show at the parkside lounge. as always it was amazing. It was a bit of a challenge to convince Kate to go but after the show she became a huge corn mo fan. as for almost everyone else i know, corn mo may remain an unknown. I invited just about everyone I thought might be in the area to join and not one could make the leap of faith to join. That's alright that just means more corn mo for us. Anyway without much going on i thought I'd post another video for you to enjoy.

So if you haven't seen Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz do yourself a favor and netflix it or head down to the video store. I guess you would call these movies action comedy's. They're british films with a british sense of humor but don't worry know benny hill shit here. I think what makes them so fun to watch is the lack of dumb comedy. the jokes aren't dumbed down for the the american audience. (i'm not saying americans are dumb, i'm say the movie industry treats us like idiots.) Either way i enjoyed both these film as think you should too.

Thursday night I lived the dream. For reasons I can't explain I've lossesly bases my life around the code of the beastie boys. What's the code of the beastie boys you ask? Well (smart guy) they are simply about fun and haveing a good time. Which these days seems to be harder and harder to find. Anyway MCA, AdRock, and MikeD although now in their late 30's came out with loads of energy. Sadly i cant say the same for the crowd. Most of them on their early 30 stood apatheticly listening trying not to have a good time. That didn't stop me from haveing the time of my life. As Kate can atest to I had a dumb shit smile on my face the entire time. I couldnt have been happier its like being able to do something you thought you missed out on. Like for example a historian being able to go back and experience the Kennedy assanination. Ok bad example but you hey what I'm going for. Anyway they played all the songs you could ask for along with a few off thier new instermental album released earlier this month. With out a doubt AdRock seems to lead the group in enthusiasim while Mike D seems to be the smooth guy, poor MCA looks as if he's 60 and needs a nap. It almost kind of sad the way he slouches on stage and seems to gather up an extra effort to get up front to rap his parts. Although if I was 40 singing song I wrote at 19 I might be less than hype and feel a bit tired of the whole thing. It also could have been the fact that less than half the crowd knew the songs. I feel like there's more to write about such an important event on the life of Paul but I don't know what else to say except it was great and I may be too big of a fan......... Clearly..... As always I took as much video as I could because there's no chance of any pictures turning out.

really good and or busy weekend. got some pictures from friday night from going out to the Mercury lounge to see a friend of a friend play.... (side note) i really like the Mercury Lounge I've been there a couple of times now to see band and I'm never disappointed. kate ian and i went with some of my friends from G2. (now that i quit i can include them on the site). It's really kinda funny it seems like we spent most of the time there just taking pictures of ourselves being stupid and disturbing the bad with our antics.

saturday was good we went to gotham comedy club to see jake johnson. two other comics opened for jack and to be honest i didn't laugh that much... the first guy was just one of those angry self loathing comics. the second women was a bit self loathing but had much better bits. Jack was ok but not crazy funny. over all though I can't complain it was fun i've never been to a comedy club before and it was free. big thanks to sam..

sunday i got back on the skateboard and loved it. didn't get hurt but i'm a bit soar today....
wednesday off to Charlotte for the professors and alison big day (wedding) ian and i are heading down there to make sure everything goes smoothly and a good time is had by everyone.... we won't let you down.

yeah so i've noticed that the little blogging community we live in has been mia. many of the favorite dport7 blogs have been dormant and un-posted for months. Am i effected you ask? yes it's slowed me down a bit. Along with the lack of fun to pass along to you the dport7 faithful. Because of the down time I've got a treat for you. Last thursday I saw this band called the scurvy pirates down at the parkside lounge (not near a park).I've posted the entire 2.45 minute video I took and if you make it all the way through your truly a hero of dport7 membership. the band was hilarious and I had a really great time.

dport7 faithful; last night i was pleased to be part of the small privileged group that each night represents the nation and it's hero's in the audience of the
colbert report. as some of you may know it is my favorite show on television today. i was giving an extra ticket by kate's roommate jeremy. as if seeing steven colbert wasn't enough his guest on the program was Paulina Porizkova the ex-supermodel wife of cars lead singer rick ocasek. i being a huge cars fan was hopping for an appearance by ocasek and was shock when he showed up for a cameo. Paulina Porizkova ricks wife is mutant beautiful. from were i was sitting she looked 8 foot tall and cut from marble. needless to say it was a unexpected highlight of my month. even though steven was battling a cold he was full of energy and seemed to really love doing the show. it was amazing how dirty and kinda shitty and small the set was, but it didn't matter i loved it. special thanks to jeremy and his cousin. Oh if you check out that show when they re-run it this afternoon at like 7pm in the beginning you can see me in my orange wind breaker. or hey go buy it on itunes.

copy write infringement is a load for hose puckie man..... I know a lot of you could care less about this stuff and to be honest i usually don't care either.... however last week viacom turned the screws on youtube and demanded they pull done 100,000 videos from the site clamming copy write infringement..... now i'm note really a huge fan of youtube either. most of it consists of highschool kids lip sinking and video's of scuba diving cats. but the one and only thing i loved about youtube was it was the only place left on the net to watch silf and olly.... the show that defined a generation... so on saturday i was feeling a little down and though "why not watch some sifl and olly to cheer me back up" I go to you tube do my search and find it's been "taken down because of copy write infringement".... this is bullshit man!!!!!!! I love that show and now viacom has to come along with their pack of lawyers to be mr killjoy for young america....... here's what i'm saying if they release sifl and olly on DVD i would buy it in a heart beat, but THEY HAVEN'T DONE THAT!!!!!! what has this world become? i'll tell you, a bunch of greedy toolbags unwilling to let people appreciate others work with out paying every sent they think they're owed.... I think the moral of the story here is if your ganna be greedy for the love of god at least give me the chance to pay for it!!!!
in honor of sifl and olly and copy write infringement here's a clip i ripped from youtube just last weekend.... it's one of my favorites and i'll miss all the fun we could have had together youtube (tears fall to the keyboard)

today in attempt to do something with my weekend, i made my way down the street to the brooklyn museum . it was the last day of the Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life, 1990–2005. i've seen posters for it on the subway and it looked like it might be interesting. when i got to the museum it became clear that i wasn't the only person that waited till the last day. i joined a line that snaked around the museum for days.... in total i spent a little under 2 hours in line to see a exhibit i wanted to see just so i could save face on monday morning when i'm asked the obligatory question "how was your weekend?". Standing in a line that long by yourself really is an interesting experience. most people come to these things in a group so if your a loner your left to listen in on the conversations going on around you. conversations going on around me in such a situation always consist of a group of two girls and one dude. the dude is usually boarder line gay if not "out and proud". if the gay dude isn't dominating the conversation about how fabulous he is then the girls are holding a boarder line dude hostage with a conversation about a feud they're in with another girl or (and this is my personal favorite) telling each other how men fall in love with them and stock them around every corner. Usually upon hearing this i roll my eyes and then wonder for a moment "does this group behind me have one of the most beautiful women in the free world." I think to myself "turn around and behold a beauty you can't help but fall for". with out fail i turn around and there's a short round pale blond girl stand there with a wonky tooth and a lazy eye. Inner beauty paul inner beauty......

anyway after two hours of that i got to the exhibit and it was cool. it always makes me jealous that there is a person out there that gets to live in the light of greatness and fame their entire adult life only to walk among the rest of us as if she; just like me is stuck plugging away at a blinding will crushing computer all day. working only to buy a nintendo wii when again they hit stores. so the picture is just because i love the durst and so does the brooklyn museum.

so we visited jersey city, new jersey this weekend to see LIFE by tyson thorne. to be honest people say a lot of things about new jersey and honestly out by newark most of those things are true, but jersey city was a pleasant surprise. it is just across the river and just one stop on the path train. tyson was having what i believe to be his fist photography show. as expected it was brilliant and tyson being that shroud self promoter wanted in-depth dport7 coverage. honestly its probably the best time I've had at any kind of art related event. I got to see some great photos and some old friends from toda. my good old danish friend lasse was back from Copenhagen which was cool. he's back at toda for another run. lydia and chris came out and there were a few others. anyway after the show we went to dinner and that where all the pictures we taken. so here's all the promotional pictures click on the image below and see.

on saturday we hung out with sam and brina and brian gave me a birthday painting (click for image) it is super exciting because no one has ever painted me anything before. keeping in the style of dport7 it a robot. although this robot has a special advantage.... he found the remote the owner misplaced and now in a play for independence controls himself...... don't be surprised if you see a 3D version of this little guy on the site soon to keep killroy on his toes.

uuuuhhhhuhuhh what a week. i can't even really explain why this week has been sooo bad but it has taken forever. long story short lots of work mom in town and it rained the entire time. so with that said let me take you to the high point of the week. wednesday, my mom who spent the week running around the city going to the view having fun and collecting free stuff got us tickets to see the martin short musical fame becomes me. honestly i didn't thing it would be very good but it certainly had so funny parts. my mom laughed the entire time, i thought it was pretty good and kate.... well kate was just happy to go to a show. check out the picture of martin,... mom saw him outside the theater and snapped a shot. the man puts on a incredibly high energy show and for that we thank the little guy.
