SUPER HIGH PREMIUM PACKAGING FOR CHINA
Mead Johnson is one of the two largest producers of baby formula in the world. With the explosion of wealth in China, there was an opportunity to capture the Super High Premium tier of the market. The package needed to address all of the pain points the consumer had with safety and hygiene. One of the major pain points was round material. Plastic was seen as a danger to the product and in turn the child. A steel can was a must, along with a way to make it ownable thus creating this higher-end tier. The cap was then created to fulfill a beautiful clearly locking latch system; helping consumers recognize safety on the shelf.
The most intense technical challenge was the waisted shape of the can. In market, there are numerous examples shaped, steel cans, but not of this size and volume.
The design has a dual label, helping to create a point of difference, while also creating graphic space for news on shelf.
