So last weekend in a word was CRAY (“cray” is how the kids have shortened the word crazy to be cool). I for reasons I find hard to explain went winter camping with my good friends Billy, Vitor, and George. Well to be fair it’s not that hard to explain. The city has made me into a bit of a weenie so I do these excursions to make myself a bit tougher.
We got to the camp site at about 3pm on Saturday to find the temperature to be a nippy 19 degrees. I was worried to say the least. Don’t worry I went to REI the night before and got some Long John’s (which I promptly renamed Long Paul’s) I also got some new gloves and the thickest socks I’ve ever seen. After walking to the camp site which isn’t too far we started to gather all the wood we would need for the fire. If you ever go camping with Victor you learn quickly that it’s impossible to gather too much wood for the campfire. As the day light slipped away we stared the fire and started in on drinking the only liquid you can bring to a campsite that is far below freezing (pictured below). Couple of quick highlights, a assortment of fire works were set off. Many unintentional falls. A fire pass out (we’ll leave that there). Delicious sausge fajita. Lastly an amazing thermos of Hot Apple Rye Cider and 3 LBs of cured meats. I think the pictures tell the rest of the story pretty accurately. Billy snapped most of these as I decided it was far too cold to try and operate my camera. I can’t say I regret that choice. Oh one last thing. By the time our frozen feet got us back to the car the next morning the temperature was at a cruel 7 degrees. WOW! this might have been my first and last winter camping trip. cold!

Following the exceptionally warm reception of the last video post here on the site we thought a follow up was necessary. I’m sorry to present #lessSchulman.
Enjoy. Well try.
Jon the Jew is in town this weekend for the MLK holiday and wanted to make a video to share with you. So we sat down this morning on the couch and tried to get a song out. Just a warning buttFUZZ makes a cameo so beware.
As promised from a few posts ago. I’d like to introduce you all to a new character here on dport7. Krissy my cousin and member of the dport7 family had a baby last week named Ethan. Before he was born she had asked if I would do a safari or jungle themed drawing for the nursery. I instantly decided on an elephant and thought it would be great to do him in the style of turbo and dport7. Some of you may remember we used to have a character on the site years ago that was an elephant and his name was Dumpy. I thought this would be a great way to bring him back to the site.
Anyway Krissy received it the other day and said she liked it, so I’m a happy camper. What a fun project, it was a pleasure.
Check out the pics below and enjoy!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!!!!! So this year we spent NYE in beautiful Surprise NY. Good friend of the site Billy has a friend Charlie (that he knew from high school I think) who’s family has a country house. It’s the big white farm house in the pictures below. Kate made her famous apple and pumpkin pies that went over really well. I was a bit more than slightly over dressed in my new navy velvet sport coat and tie. Everyone was super nice. Most of the folks there were actors. I guess some of them had known each other from being in the movie “Black Hawk Down” together. Charlie has been on everyone’s favorite show “Mad Men”. He played Abe, Peggy’s man friend in season 4. I’m rambling.
Long story short we had a great time. Explored the big old barns. Took a walk around the country side with all it’s hills and views and what not. Lovely.
I hope you had a great New Years wherever you are! Time for Paul to get back on the treadmill and run off some of this Holiday Gut!
