As you may know I’ve embraced the Zombie as my go to costume for The Halloween over the years. Although the other day I came across this god send of a mask. For those of you that don’t know this is the great Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec. Ron Swanson to me is one of the best characters in TV history. The only issue is I’ve been way too busy this week to go out and find it. Either way it has delighted me and I wanted to share it with you.
Yes….. The 10K went well. Saturday Megan and I ran the “Rock’N Roll” 10K in Prospect Park with 6000 other people and our supporters Kate, Sarah, Billy, Eliane, and Zeus (Billy’s dog). I’ve never run in a race this big before and it was a challenge. Just too many people I kept having to jump up on to the grass to pass people and stay on pace. I wish I would have been a little faster I finished the race in 54 minutes. I included a map below to show you the course. It’s not quite two laps of the park but its pretty close. The guy that won the race ran the 6.27 miles in 28 minutes which I find to be completely insane. I saw him pass the crowed at a devilish speed. It was a good race Megan and I both felt good about it.
I included at the end of this post a better pic of the newly painted spare room. Please enjoy.
Alright folks put your nerd boots on this is ganna get weird. I found this site today
itfff that lets you create IF Then programs with api’s from lots of different web services. What does this mean? Well for instance you can tell it to set up an IF Then that when posting to instagram could also automatically post to twitter or facebook. I know what your saying. Instagram already can do that. Well that was just an example check out all the other pre-made programs there are. They might have something you can use. As a test I set one up to post to twitter every time I post to wordpress. Maybe that’s how you got here. Maybe it didn’t even work.
Take the nerd boot off now and go about your day.
This weekend was truly exhausting. Kate and I repainted the spare room in the apartment. It was a blood read before painted by the pervious tenants. It looks like they must have stole a can of paint from a homeless man then just throw it at the wall with their eye closed. Even the picture below shows what an incredibly bad job they did. We used Benjamin Moore Aura which is amazing. If you ever have to paint a room please use this paint. It almost did the job in a single coat. Very impressed. The room is a clean light grey now and it makes a world of difference. Come on by and check it out. I’ll take a better shot with the wide angle this weekend when it’s nice and sunny.
We also participated in a 5K in the Bronx this weekend. It was to help me prepare for my 10K on the 22nd (this Saturday). I wasn’t repaired for the off road running that was this 5K. All up hill all on gravel. I have to say I much prefer the asphalt loop around the park. No chance of my old skateboard ankles going out.
Let me bring you up to speed.
1. We started playing tennis. Take bets on if this will last.
2. I’ve had an eye twitch in my right eye for 2, yes 2 weeks. Going crazy.
3. Got promoted at work to “Associate Director of Industrial Design”.
4. My friends Billy and Sarah got engaged. Congrats.
5. I’m pretty sure my terrarium is completely dead! What the eff!!
6. Spent a significant amount of time being mad and talking about how stupid “Occupy Wall Street” is! Stupid kids.
7. Really busy.
This weekend was the annual Bear Mountain Oktoberfest trip. As we have done the past few years we took the Metro North to the Peakskills stop. We had a good group this year and as always the trip was a full success. There were a few highlights though. Ben made a special trip all the way from San Francisco for the day. Kate and Megan gave Sarah a Sons Of Anarchy type leather jacket with a “Full Patch” wolf and feather. Which was amazing. I had a waffle.
Every year as a group we make a pact. After Bear Mountain when we get back to Grand Central the group will disperse and rather than trying to keep the party going in a vain attempt we will all go home. I’m saying in this public forum that I did everything in my power to keep that pact. However others in the group broke under party pressure. We visited Heathers and forced the day on for another hour or so. It turns out Hearhers maybe closing due to neighbor complaints of noise so in the minds of the pact breakers this was reason enough to visit.
All in all it was a great day! Thanks to everyone that made it out. And to those that missed it, for shame!!!!
