HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!!!!! So this year we spent NYE in beautiful Surprise NY. Good friend of the site Billy has a friend Charlie (that he knew from high school I think) who’s family has a country house. It’s the big white farm house in the pictures below. Kate made her famous apple and pumpkin pies that went over really well. I was a bit more than slightly over dressed in my new navy velvet sport coat and tie. Everyone was super nice. Most of the folks there were actors. I guess some of them had known each other from being in the movie “Black Hawk Down” together. Charlie has been on everyone’s favorite show “Mad Men”. He played Abe, Peggy’s man friend in season 4. I’m rambling.
Long story short we had a great time. Explored the big old barns. Took a walk around the country side with all it’s hills and views and what not. Lovely.
I hope you had a great New Years wherever you are! Time for Paul to get back on the treadmill and run off some of this Holiday Gut!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!! Kate, Brian and I are here in beautiful Denver Colorado at the Rybicki’s. We have had a lovely holiday with Christmas Eve dinner at the Brown Palace which is a lovely old Hotel in downtown Denver. Christmas morning was beautiful with presents for everyone and a Jets hat for me!!! Along with that belt buckle I found in Asheville that I loved so much. I got Kate tickets to see “Anything Goes” and she also got a juicer that she wanted so badly. We got Joe and Mary an Apple TV so that they can enjoy the Netflix on their new Samsung TV. Brian got a flannel shirt from Ralph Lauren signed by Ralph himself. All in all a great time! Watch for more photos as we go!!

Well, it’s the week before Christmas everyone, and as always we are just too busy to be excited about it. Kate is fresh off Jury Duty, so work is a bit chaotic. I’ve been pretty busy all month and just kinda want the year to be over so we can start making our way to spring time.
In honor of the holidays my office had a Christmas party, and at that party there was a photo booth. Not wanting to hog camera time Kate and I only took one picture and chose to channel the Boss (Bruce Springsteen) from the album Born In The USA. Kate and I didn’t spend much time at the party as we had a concert to go to. We saw the National at Beacon theater.
Long story short as we do not send out Christmas Cards please enjoy this rock inspired holiday photo.

Tonight our favorite jew, Jew Schuman called to wish me and the staff a Merry Christmas and left this message. The odd thing (and this may be because he’s Jewish) is that he sang “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” but replaced many of the songs iconic lyrics with the word buttFUZZ. The dport7 staff has sent our other Washington correspondents to check on the jew. Keep your finger crossed…. Or if you can form the Star of David with your fingers that might help him more.
Thanks!

It’s 5am and as always if it’s that early Kate and I are at La Guardia. We are on our way to Asheville NC for what has been deemed the thanksgivingpaloza, or maybe thanksgivingacolypse, Turkygate, or Turkeytussel. Anyway it has the makings of an epic time. On this trip is Me, Kate, Martin(host), Jenn Norwood, Joe Sanders, and Danielle Sanders. Kate and I have been looking forward to this for months. Kate is making a pie, turkey, caserols, and what not.

As promised in the last post, let’s catch up. Last weekend Ian, Pink, and Adinda came to NYC on their way to WI for the Holiday. I’m not sure but they may win the award for most miles ever traveled to be at Thanksgiving.
We got to spend a little time with them while they stopped over in NYC for 2 days. As you know when a baby is around pictures are taken. And no matter what you may think of me, not even I can resist taking a few shots. Enjoy the pic. The whole fam seemed happy and health.
oh and happy thanksgiving if I don’t see you!!!

Well, I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend. I know I did. I went Camping with Billy and Victor. Getting back to my roots by living in the woods (for a night). I have to be honest with you I’ve forgotten how unbelievably dark it gets at night in the middle of nowhere. We were up in the Adirondacks hiking and swimming. It’ was great, I needed to get out in the country every couple of years just to remember that it’s there. Enjoy the pictures.
BTW The dude with the bloody leg was not one of us it was a kid at the camp next to ours. He caught himself in the leg with a hatchet. It was amazing. Didn’t even look real.

Happy New Year everyone! The dport7 staff is (as always) pleased to have slipped another year under it’s belt. NYE is a tricky beast. It’s the one night a year (at least for me) that here is a unreasonable amount of pressure to go out into this city and make fun happen in a way that is unnatural and impossible. Super fun times are never planned and rarely expected. It’s the perfect storm of people and places and dare I say magic. It can’t be reproduced and it can’t be planned it just happens. That’s what makes NYE such a damning task. I suggest this just do what we did. Head over to Megan’s house bring some cheese and procecco and play it cool. There were no plans and everything worked out great. I think their might have been 8 of us in total but you’d never know that from my pictures.

So you’re asking yourself what are the New years resolutions for the dport7 staff? Well, 2010 saw a rebirth of what some said was a dilapidated decrepit dport7.com. We hope to continue to make dport7 a strong internet “tent pole” as we along with our friends at FaceBook push what can be.
