Well in truth it’s about time. Yep in just a matter of days I will be deleting my account on the Facebook. In short I’ve just had it with that noise. I started dport7 in 2004 as a way to document my life and stay in-touch with friends. I’ve been able to post all kinds of content and experiences. The Facebooks is full of a bunch of stuff I don’t need or even want. I’m confident I will not be missed. I’m also confident I won’t miss the relentless “what I had for lunch” updates. The “I can’t believe that just happened” comment bait. The “so and so just became friends with so and so” alerts. I’m out! Don’t be afraid to join me. Free yourself from the Facebook app on your phone and the worthless information it peddles.
I will remain on twitter and instagram because I need to get my Jen Norwood and Brian Lauvray fix from somewhere.
::::UPDATE:::: as of tonight I’m no more on the facebooks. “I barely new her”.

In an effort to keep things fresh here on the site I’ve added a new page called instagrams. You’ll see it up in the menu placed on the right. Instagram is an picture app on the iPhone that both Kate and I have gotten into. I’ve set up the phone so it will send the pics it take here to instagram’s page. I encourage you to check it out and enjoy. It’s more of an everyday picture station rather than just pictures from events, or big trips.

So I don’t usually post stuff from work be it that it is a top secret type area similar to Area 51. But, this nerd out is too big to ignore. Yesterday we received our render farm. In simple terms it’s a bunch of high powered computers I will network together to render very large images substantially faster. What you’re looking at is 10 12core Mac Pro’s. I’m yet to see but my guess a rendering that takes my single machine 12-14 hour to complete will be done in 30min on this set up. Crazy!

So I have some shots of that render farm all hooked up and running. I didn’t want to leave you hanging.

So as you may have heard Kate and I adopted a cat a few years ago that has Charlie Sheen tiger blood running through it’s veins. The crap this cat pulls makes wild apes look like droopy eyed armless children. She smokes 7 gram rocks a day because, well that’s how she rolls. Needless to say this causes trouble for us around the apt. Last Sunday buttFUZ was involved in the shattering of Kate’s iPhone. This was in the truest sense a disaster. Kate was crushed, buttFUZZ was banished and I was left to pick up the pieces. So it turns out you can order iPhone parts off the internet at this great site called Direct Fix It. They have parts for everything, front panels, back panels ipods, cables, tons of stuff. Long story short we ordered the part and I video taped us changing it out. Nerds enjoy.

So I know it’s been a very long time since we’ve had a Fait 500 update. I’ll tell you what, I just plain ran out of steam once I got to doing the interior. The body and the bumpers and the lights were fun but all the trim and interior is just a killer. It’s surprisingly kinda tricky to do all the little piping and is to say the least monotonous. I thought I’d show you the stage where the Fiat 500 is likely to stay. I may someday put on the canvas top just because I think it may clear up a few issues I have with the roof of the car. If you’d like a higher rez click on the photo. The Fiat will be featured prominently on the site from now on, I just doubt it will see much more modeling attention.

Hello everyone! I know it’s been a while since dport7 hasn’t looked like a template but today is the day. I had an idea to do a new character for the site. I call him little marshmallow man “turbo”. He has a a gang and an eye patch. The thermos is full of scotch, this little guy is ready to party. I did a closeup render so you could see the crest on Turbo’s eye patch. If you can’t read it it’s says “! Fool!. It’s been a long time since dport7 has looked unique and I’m happy to have it back. I still have a few things to fix but we are 90% there. enjoy the dport7 renaissance .

so if you haven’t noticed I’ve really started to like the new dport7 a lot. Turns out WordPress (the engine that runs this blog) Is really awesome. Like I mentioned a few posts ago we got the flickrs page working as you can see in the navigation bar above. We also are in the process of taking care of all that spammer comment crap that the blog has been plagued with. Lastly is the addition of my Nike+ information. If you scroll down on you will see in the right hand column a thing called Paul’s Runs. This is my run information from my Nike+ account. So now every time I plug in my ipod after my run the latest 4 runs will be posted here on the site. Along with my over all stats. Up until now I was just recording my runs so i could keep up on how much time it took to complete a lap around the park. This makes it a bit easier to follow along. There are many other things about WordPress I’m enjoying but too nerdy to try to explain here.

Off to Florida on Friday…… just so you know.

The entire staff is proud to announce that photo (formally known as frames) has returned to This has been a long time coming and we are really excited. As you may have noticed we updated the the site again and there is now a menu bar right under the banner image. The link that says flickrs is were the new dport7 photos will live. These photos are pulled directly form paul’s flickr account and can be updated easily from anywhere. This will allow for pictures to be posted to the site mobilely. This means more pictures more often. Paul can’t write so good so this is a welcome addition to the new WordPress version of We also hope to be able to customize the layout a bit, but this damn WordPress is hard.
Thanks for stopping by enjoy the photos.

We’ve posted an example below to show you what the flickrs page is like
